Adding to the dynamic programming, Being Biracial Podcast co-hosts Maria Birch-Morunga and Kate Robinson will record a live episode onsite.
MzRizk explained the event’s purpose, emphasising its role in fostering cultural exchange and creating a space where diverse perspectives are honoured. “Art Souk holds deep importance for both me and the talented artists I’m collaborating with. It’s an opportunity to create a space for cultural exchange and connection, where artists can share their unique talents and perspectives that might not typically reach broader audiences,” she shared. The event aims to build a platform for creative expression and highlight underrepresented voices within the local arts community.
Art Souk brings together various art forms, from live performances to interactive installations, sparking dialogue on themes like culture, identity, and artistic representation. Attendees can participate in conversations and workshops that foster a deeper understanding of how art intersects with broader social issues.
Art Souk is part of MAV’s DIASPORAS program, supported by the City of Melbourne, Creative Victoria, Creative Australia, and Arts Centre Melbourne. MAV’s mission is to empower Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour artists, nurturing connections within the arts ecosystem to celebrate diversity and mutual understanding.
