The 502s
American indie-folk band The 502s went viral on TikTok with their single Just A Little While back in 2022 and they’re touring Australia this December. With a Melbourne show on December 6th, we can’t help but notice the next day seems to be free- could a Meredith set be on the cards?
Dirty Three
Dirty Three are certainly no strangers to Meredith Music Festival, playing there numerous times over the decades. A memorable moment in Meredith’s history was their 2004 set when they played during an electrical storm. The Aussie rockers have made a comeback this year, releasing a new album in June and embarking on multiple regional tours. They’ll likely be welcomed back to Meredith this year.
Mk.gee
American singer-songwriter and producer Mk.gee is coming to Australia in December, with two Melbourne shows on December 7th and 8th, so it seems likely that we could expect him to make an appearance at Meredith on the opening night, Friday the 6th.
Klangkuenstler
German DJ and producer KlangKuenstler has quickly become a big name in house music, specifically in the German scene. Though maybe a little house-oriented for the Meredith lineup, Klangkuenstler is playing a Melbourne show on December 6th, so he could play a late-night Saturday set.
Crowded House
National treasures Crowded House released their eighth studio album, Gravity Stairs, earlier this year. They’ve got a national tour lined up for December, playing a whopping four shows at Sydney Opera House from December 4-8, with no show scheduled for December 6th. Although it’s unlikely for them to make the quick trip out between shows, it’s certainly not impossible.
Wallows
Alt-rock trio Wallows are bringing their biggest global tour Down Under this December, with shows scheduled for December 6th or 8th, making them possible candidates for a Meredith set.
Tones and I
Tones and I rose to fame in 2019 with her breakout single Dance Monkey and since then has only gotten better. Her brand new album, Beautifully Ordinary, dropped on August 2nd and she currently has shows announced up until November 30, with an additional show on December 7th in Tassie, making it possible for her to play a set at Meredith.
Amyl and the Sniffers
Who doesn’t love a bit of Aussie pub rock? These legends have just recently dropped some new music (their first since 2021) and they’re about to open for Foo Fighters on their USA tour this month, before embarking on a European headline tour, which ends November 29 – just in time for Meredith!
Drunk Mums
After a four-year hiatus, Drunk Mums graced our ears with their album Beer Baby earlier this year and they’ve just wrapped their tour of the same name. With nothing announced for December so far, it would be great to see them on this lineup.
Royel Otis
Aussie pop-duo Royel Otis have been making waves in the scene since their 2021 EP Campus and more recently turned heads with their Triple J Like A Version cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder On The Dancefloor. With their international tour wrapping up on December 4th, a Meredith appearance is not to be ruled out.
Middle Kids
Australia’s very own Middle Kids released one of my personal top albums this year, Faith Crisis Pt 1, featuring the singles Bootleg Firecracker and Highlands. Their Aussie headline tour wraps up in early November, with no other dates announced yet and I feel that they would be a perfect addition to the Meredith lineup.
Long shot: Charli XCX
Okay, I’ll admit this one seems a little far-fetched, but with no Australian dates announced yet and a seemingly free December, I’m not ruling out the chances of Charli XCX gracing the stage at Meredith. It would definitely be the perfect way to kick off an Aussie Brat Summer!
