Originally set to take place at Mt Duneed Estate on Saturday 17 February, Tent Pole: A Musical Jamboree was gearing up for a triumphant return.
The organisers behind the highly anticipated Tent Pole 2024 have, regrettably, made the difficult decision to cancel the February event.
Despite their unwavering belief in the festival’s potential, the current economic climate and the challenges associated with launching a new regional event have proven insurmountable.

“In a very disappointing turn of events we have made the difficult decision to cancel Tent Pole 2024,” organisers shared in a statement.
“This decision has not been made lightly as there is still strong belief in the event and what it can offer, however, the current economic climate coupled with the difficulties associated with establishing a new regional festival has made it impossible for us to proceed.”
All ticket purchasers need not worry, as automatic refunds will be issued promptly.
However, before the collective sighs of disappointment settle in, there’s a silver lining for fans of the legendary Dinosaur Jr. Collaborating with the folks at Frontier Touring, a second Dinosaur Jr. show in Melbourne on February 17th has been added. The presale on now, ensuring a chance for fans to catch this iconic band live.
Originally set to take place at Mt Duneed Estate on Saturday 17 February, Tent Pole: A Musical Jamboree was gearing up for a triumphant return, headlined by US alternative rock pioneers Dinosaur Jr. playing their seminal album, 1993’s Where You Been, in its entirety.
The festival, which made a memorable debut this year, promised to be even bigger and better in 2024. The lineup boasted 10 iconic names from the music industry, spanning various genres and eras. From Scottish indie pioneers Mogwai to Arizona desert noir legends Calexico, the carefully curated roster had something for everyone.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of their landmark album Where You Been, Dinosaur Jr. was set to deliver an explosive performance, closing Tent Pole’s main stage. The original trio, J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph, were all set to make their first visit to Australia since 2017.
