This is your first Australian tour in four years, what are you looking forward to most?
The people. Emery fans in Australia are some of the coolest folks in the world. They really do make each show for us special and memorable. Man, that sounds cheesy but it’s true.
What’s changed for you as a band since you were here last?
Not much. Except we have written more records and gotten a little older. We can’t wait to play some of the songs that we have never gotten to play live in Australia before.
Why did you decide to team up with Infinite Entertainment?
They are the best. Those folks know what they are doing and really are great to work with.
Did you go to many gigs when you guys were underage?
Yes I, Toby, did. I have always been a fan of music and loved getting to see music performed live at an early age. My musical preferences have changed as I have gotten older but I still love going to a good show.
Your crowdfunding campaign has successfully funded your next album, You Were Never Alone, can you describe how the process played out?
We talked as a band and decided we wanted more freedom and control with all aspects of our music. We decided not to resign with Tooth and Nail and try putting out our own record. We knew we would need help and our awesome fans all around the world supported us more than we could’ve dreamed. It’s crazy too, because it’s taken every dime we received to get this album together, but it’s going to blow peoples’ minds. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this new record.
EMERY are playing at Wyndham Youth Resource Centre in Hoppers Crossing on Sunday March 27 from 12.30pm. This is an all ages event.
