The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will accompany showings of Disney favourites Frozen and Star Wars: A New Hope with live, in-concert musical performances.
2023 is a special year for the Walt Disney Company. You only turn 100 once! To mark the big milestone, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is hosting a series of events that combine the spirit of live music with two of the most iconic Disney films – Star Wars: A New Hope, and Frozen.
The orchestra will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the original Star Wars: A New Hope with an in-concert event on January 28th. Composer and film fan Nicholas Buc will guide the orchestra through John Williams’ Oscar-award winning score. The live music adds unmatched drama and energy to George Lucas’ iconic film – it’s the cult classic like you’ve never seen it before.

When the weather takes a chilly turn in June, the orchestra will set its sights on the comedy musical Frozen, the highest-grossing animated film of all time. Sing along with Anna and Elsa to Let it Go and countless other classics, with musical accompaniment led by acclaimed conductor Jessica Gethin. It’s an all-ages showing that’s not to be missed.
The performances will take place at the Plenary in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. With both matinée and evening showings, the in-concert events breathe new life into Disney’s beloved family movies. Tickets go on sale November 16th at 10am.
