So for Record Store Day Bethany Cosentino managed to whip up a song that wasn’t about California or how cool it is to have a boyfriend, and the result is actually not terrible. The saccharine sunshine elements are still present, but this time there’s a gritty menace lying beneath the surface. Way better than anything off the last Best Coast LP, but still not terribly inspiring.
