Melbourne’s Pony Face evoke Dinosaur Jnr with their guitar fuzz and low, cruising vocals. There are shades of The National in the opening verses but when the chorus opens out it is pure ’90s noise pop, perfectly etched, maybe a little rounder at the edges. The rolling electro sample lifts the tune out of pure nostalgia and makes it new. Really interesting.
