Taken from the intoxicating, layered gem that is Port Of Morrow, The Rifle’s Spiral has an almost psychedelic feel, a hypnotic pulse in the vocal melody and a circular swirl of guitars, beautifully balanced against the bouncing rhythm section. There’s an urgency to it, a vitality, but also a grim and weighty undercurrent. A strange and amazing tune.
