What’s your name then?
Tom.
Oh. And the name of your band?
The Kritzlers.
And what do you do?
Take listeners on a kaleidoscopic ride through all things shoegazey dreamy and lush by fusing genres into a lush hallucinogenic wall of sound.
When did you start doing that?
Around 2007.
Why did you start doing that?
There weren’t enough songs about with heavily distorted [major] 7th chords so I had to start writing my own.
Do you think you’re good at doing that?
Well I have lapses of self doubt from time to time so yeah…I think I’ve even came up with some original guitar tunings.
If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing?
Living out violent revenge fantasies…or working out the shortest routes via gutter between pubs in the inner northern suburbs.
What makes you happiest about what you’re doing?
Listening to the finished product shitfaced at three in the morning.
And what makes you unhappiest about what you’re doing?
The futility of it all.
What’s your proudest moment of doing what you do?
Finishing our debut album Cochlear Kill.
And your least proud?
The extended time it took to finish the album…..
When are you doing your thing next?
Well failure is kind of liberating so I don’t see us stopping anytime soon. Have bought an eight track reel to reel – so looking forward to recording even fuzzier dissonant blasts in the near future.
