You have been working in the music industry for a decade and a half – how have your goals as an artist over that time changed?
The music market has changed around me, but I am still the same. I try to express myself with music without disappointing the people who have followed my career until today.
Your career has embraced different genres and identities – what has prompted the distinctions?
I started when I was very young (15 years old) and yes I did lot of different stuff under different names! I just did what I was feeling in the moment!
Is there one moment which for you epitomises your success?
Between 2003 and 2004 I received a few awards. I am hopefully on the road for the next one! I have also played some amazing events, and I think the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Projects in Melbourne will make that list. These opportunities give you a feeling that you have reach some level of success.
What was the turning point from hobbyist to professional?
I have always seen and produced music the same way, and then all of a sudden I started getting paid for it!
What ambitions remain unfulfilled?
Hmmm this is a tricky one! I will say that as an artist you are never truly satisfied, do you know what I mean?
You are taking part in the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project – can you tell us a little bit about the project?
It’s exciting to be part of one of the largest dance events happening worldwide. The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project, where 50 countries swap nightlife for one night only, is going to be a great night, I’ll tell you more about it once I’ve done it!
How did you get involved?
I got involved because they invited me!
If you were to offer advice to an upstart in yourfield, what would you say?
Just keep on doing what you think reflects you the best, no matter what your style. Believe in yourself and don’t listen to the radio, make the radio listen to you!
As a performer, producer and remixer – your work is varied – do you have a preference?
Performing, producing, mixing, remixing is just one thing to me – it is all about making and sharing music, so I don’t have a preference.
