Yo. Who are we chatting to and what do you do in Cosmic Kahuna?
You are chatting to The Doze. I sling the riffs and do the shouting.
You’re launching your new EP Wasteoid at The Bendigo Hotel on Friday May 13. If Wasteoid was a person, what would he or she be like?
We chose Friday the 13th specifically so we could hire a knife wielding lunatic in a hockey mask whose name is Jason to chase down any of you bastards that decide not to turn up. If Wasteoid was a person it would probably be just your run-of-the-mill, denim-clad vagabond you usually see hanging around Johnston St (i.e. us).
Musically, what are the similarities and differences between Wasteoid and your 2015 self-titled EP?
I feel as though there is a considerable contrast between each release both in dynamics and songwriting. After Jack joined the group a year and a half ago he brought with him an abrasive, unique and excellent style of drumming, which consolidated each of our individual inputs into a single hard-riffin’ entity.
Cosmic Kahuna fucking shred. Tell us about your tunes and what your live set is all about.
Riffs, riffs, riffs… And occasionally some half-witted banter.
So, there’s a bunch of other rad shit on the night of your launch. Why should we ditch our plans and come to your show instead?
We’ve got Pagan, Sweet Gold and Keggin on the bill, who all totally rip. It’s only $7 for the show, there’s $4 cans of Tecate all night and it’s at The Bendigo. What more could you want.
