Who are you and what do you do in Millar Jukes & The Bandits?
I’m Millar Jukes from a wee town outside of Glasgow, Scotland and I’m the singer/songwriter for Millar Jukes & the Bandits.
You’ve said you’re heavily inspired by folk musician Ray Lamontagne. Can you describe the impact he’s had on your music?
When I first heard his music I wanted to be a musician. His song Stones Throw from Lonesome was one of the first songs I learned on guitar. He has so much emotion and rawness in his voice and songs that really hit you. Man he’s awesome.
You released your self-titled EP late last year. Can you tell us a bit about it?
We recorded it with Paul McKercher at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne last year. The EP tells a story of love, heartbreak and tries to capture that raw emotion. It was the first release that we put out and it was well received which I was so happy about. We recorded our second EP this year with Paul at Sing Sing again, so hopefully people will like the new one.
MILLAR JUKES & THE BANDITS perform at The Workers Club on Friday April 24
