2014 Soundwave Rumour Roundup

First up – you can lock in The Bennies. The local lads jumped the gun on their Twitter account to let Australia know they that’d be on the bill. They weren’t the only ones, either. Newsted, Crash Diet and Sparks The Rescue have all let it slip too.

So who will be headlining the 2014 festival? We were hoping that AC/DC might be appearing on the Big Day Out bill, but perhaps Soundwave would be a better fit. Depeche Mode are soon to be hitting Australian shores, too, but Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has stated that he’s not involved. Rammstein would be killer and haven’t toured since 2011, but Maddah has said it’s “highly unlikely”. Would it be too early for Iron Maiden to headline again? Triple M think that Soundwave might have locked in Nine Inch Nails, and the invite has been sent to Megadeth.

Trivium have told fans that they’d be here “early next year”,  apparently Panic! At The Disco will “definitely” be back in 2014, same goes for Halestorm and Dillinger Escape Plan. It’s “looking positive” the Alice in Chains will be back mighty soon, All Time Low  want to know what their Australian fans are doing in February, and why not put Cherri Bomb on the bill?

There’s “probably” some truth to the rumour that DevilDriver will be there, it’s “quite likely” that Black Stone Cherry and the same goes Heaven Shall Burn – although that same tweet locks out Cannibal Corpse, Parkway Drive and Rage Against The Machine. The odds are “pretty high” that Zebrahead will be joining the party and Skunk Anansie have been promised a spot on bill.

Who will be touring albums next year and would fit well on the Soundwave bill? The smart money is on Avenged Sevenfold and AFI, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Skindred, Placebo, Infectious Grooves and The Pretty Reckless too.

One last confirmation? The 2014 Soundwave festival will no doubt feature a lot of black shirts.
