Yarraville Village is getting a six-week soundtrack when Yarraville Twilight Sessions brings live outdoor music to the precinct from February to June.
Yarraville Twilight Sessions will present six evenings of free live music featuring a diverse mix of established and emerging performers across the Yarraville Village precinct. The series secured funding through Maribyrnong Council’s Love Your West Grants Program to transform public spaces and energise the area’s night-time economy.
Live music in public spaces hits different to venue gigs. There’s something about stumbling across a performance while you’re out for dinner or wandering through a neighbourhood that makes the experience feel more spontaneous, more connected to the place itself. Yarraville Twilight Sessions is banking on that magic.

Running across six separate nights gives Yarraville Twilight Sessions room to showcase genuine variety. This isn’t one genre, one vibe, one audience; it’s an opportunity to bring different sounds, different crowds and different energies to the same streets over several months.
Established performers bring the draw card factor, getting people out of their houses and into the Village. Emerging artists get the platform and exposure that can be hard to come by, especially for musicians still building their audience. Everyone wins when the lineup balances both.
Yarraville Village already has the bones of a strong precinct – cafes, bars, shops, community spaces – but activations like Yarraville Twilight Sessions give people an extra reason to linger once the sun starts setting. Night-time economy doesn’t just mean clubs and pubs; it means creating reasons for people to be out in their neighbourhood after dark.
Yarraville Twilight Sessions received up to $10,000 through the Night-Time Diversification stream of the grants program, which aims to strengthen Maribyrnong’s appeal as a thriving night-time destination. It’s one of 15 projects sharing $115,500 in total funding between February and June.
Six evenings might not sound like much, but done right, they’re enough to shift how people think about a neighbourhood. Yarraville Twilight Sessions is betting that live music, public space and twilight hours are the perfect recipe for making that shift happen.
