HALLAM SENIOR COLLEGE

Glimmer Of Hope – Written by Yonis

As a kid, I can vividly remember the peaceful days / When jackin’ and hittin’ the candy store were the righteous ways

Believin’ in the easter bunny was overated / And flirtin’ with a fly honey was an understatement

Life used to grab me by the arms / And hurl me forward on the right path

Steering me out of dangers’ wrath / I was praised and preached by my parents

Who of which were poor yet you couldn’t sense no emotional dents / By cutting through their budget they would’ve spared me a few cents

It’s this sort of love that’s kept us through rents / but we weren’t gonna stay glee with our arses up in tents

As I grew up, a lot of shit changed / My parents had decent jobs so their wages ranged.

I took the quote to hear “old rabbits – die hard” / yet my mates one after the other eventually got barred

Life now hurts me on a crash course for death / Revealin’ many thoughts and sorrows which recede my breath.

Although even the brink towards this end / there’s a glimmer of hope that you can lend

HAILEYBURY COLLEGE

Dog Eat Dog – By Madison, Harrison and Stefan

I have what I need and nothing more / So why am I the one classified as poor?

If I could talk to them, you bet / I’d try grind the facts into their head

They’re missing out, on a life /All they ever do is cause some strife

I can’t, though, cause there’s a barrier between us / Any kind of contact, that’d be heinous

I’d change the world with what they have / They throw it away like something ave,
Tryin to get, the newest, the best / Can’t they see we’re in distress

Gotta listen in while we protest.

Industries makin money that’s how the whole thing started / People takin sides that’s how the whole world parted

Let’s all try to live in equality / Instead of following this dog eat dog economy

The poor are getting poorer / The rich are getting richer

Tryna’ get bigger / By pulling the trigger

We’re losing the world / It’s all unfurled

‘Til the money’s hurled / To the third-world

Then when we’re all equal / To this rap there’ll be no sequel

Industries makin’ money that’s how the whole thing started / People takin sides thats how the whole world parted

Let’s all try to live in equality / Instead of following this dog eat dog economy.

WHAT’S WITH THE HATE?

Princes Hill Secondary College – words by Amber and Saraswati

I run down some street / Thank god I know where l’rn going

My school’s in my sight / So this is how it’s flowin’

Walking through the school / Everybody’s staring at me

So what l’m not straight / Yeah l’m gay what it be?!

Gay, bi or straight / l’m still human what’s with the hate

Ya’ll turning ya backs / Like l’m a monster as a fact.

Ma mate runs up / Screaming “is it true is it true?”

I go ‘yeah and? / Where’d ya hear it from and who?”

It’s all over facebook / It’s a friend of mine

I don’t think you know’er / Do really even mind?

Gay, bi or straight / l’m still human what’s with the hate?

Ya’ll turning your backs / Like l’m a monster come to fact.
