First time nominee Remi had two wins, reflecting what a breakthrough year 2014 has been for him. His second album Raw X Infinity took Best Independent Hip Hop Album plus he also got the prized $50,000 Carlton Dry Global Music Grant. The grant is to help an act tour, showcase, record or relocate overseas to further their career. In Remi’s case, it comes as the young hip hopper plans to tour through Europe and the United States over the next few months.
Rob Elder Brand Manager for Carlton Dry said “I am really excited to learn that Remi has become the recipient of The Carlton Dry Global Music Grant for 2014. Having seen King Gizzard explode over the last year I have no doubt that this grant will go along way in helping Remi take his music to the next level in 2014.
“Carlton Dry are firm believers that the music scene here in Australia is world class and are proud to support young Aussie artists who are ready to take their music overseas. I can’t wait to see what the next 12 months entail for this very talented Aussie artist.”
Barnett took Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Single/EP for her single Avant Gardener.
