Hi there. Who are we speaking with and what can you tell us about your market?

Hello there. You are speaking with Dee of Wild About Melbourne Pop Up Makers Market.

Where does Wild About Melbourne usually appear?

We are a pop up Makers Market, but we do have our regular haunts. We favour the Darebin suburbs of Northcote, Thornbury, Preston and Reservoir. You’ll find us at CoBrew in Thornbury, Thornbury Bowls Club, Reservoir High Street and any other venue that is a bit quirky and that I like the look of. We have a sturdy and fabulous community of both makers and shoppers that follow us around. In saying that, each market attracts different stallholders so no two market is ever the same.

What are some specialty items that you have for sale at these markets?

We focus on local handmade, art and design. Some of our favourite regulars are: SMALT cold smoked salt – Bonnie’s salted caramel fudge with hop oil is amazing and worth a trip across Melbourne for. Gus and Kitty and Emalaide are a formidable partnership of cute – handmade babies and childrens clothing for well dressed and toyed bubs all over town. Found n Bound take your favourite Golden Circle books and turn them into journals, cards and paper bunting – it’s retro upcycling at it’s finest.

Walk us through one of your average market days.

We believe you should be able to have a locally brewed beer as you shop local handmade. Thornbury’s 3 Ravens Brewery is our brew of choice, which is why we hold markets at CoBrew above the brewery and Thornbury Bowls Club. At the charming Thornbury Bowls Club, you’ll also find the fine women from the Bowls Club whipping up Devonshire Tea so you can stop and enjoy the vintage wall paper and beautiful handmade.

Our markets aren’t huge. You’ll find about 20 stallholders doing what they do very well. A great mix of stallholders with something for everyone.

Did we mention SMALT’s famous fudge? It really is worth the visit for fudge alone. Trust me.

I handpick the stallholders that we feature to ensure a great mix of the stalls that you expect and want to find at a market, but then pick some that you never knew you wanted, but you definitely do.
