Wesley Fuller’s musical journey took off internationally after catching the attention of renowned English A&R man James Endeacott, the talent scout behind The Strokes and The Libertines. Signed to Endeacott’s Sony-UK affiliated 1965 Records label in 2015, Fuller quickly made waves with his 2016 EP Melvista, receiving acclaim from Clash Magazine (UK) for its “gloriously imaginative psych pop” sound.

Now, after a brief hiatus, Wesley Fuller returns with his infectious new single, Back to Square One, released under the Cheersquad Records & Tapes label. The song showcases Fuller’s signature blend of Beatles-esque melodies, disco-infused rhythms, and a bold, contemporary twist on glam and bubblegum pop.

“It was the late summer of 2019 and I’d just returned home to Melbourne after a European Tour (and several months overseas following that). I’d just ended a long-term relationship, and I’d never felt so disconnected from my friends in the Melbourne music scene – having not played locally in almost a year,” Fuller said.

“With no gigs booked, a second album still yet to be written and recorded and so many old connections to try and rekindle, I knew that I was essentially starting from scratch.
I’d lost all the momentum I’d built up in 2018, so I was back to square one. It was time to get cracking on album #2!”

Drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, and Todd Rundgren, he brings a fresh and modern approach to the genre. Fans of The Lemon Twigs will find a kindred spirit in Wesley’s music, with both artists sharing a unique vision and a knack for crafting infectious pop tunes.
