Weird Out West

An afternoon/evening of sonic curiosities at the Footscray Library Courtyard. Live bands and live electronic acts with immersive sounds ranging from soft and beautiful to wild and frenzied.

Featuring artists:
– Jonnine (with Maria Moles)
Jonnine’s appearance will be in collaboration with percussionist Maria Moles, performing new pieces alongside songs from ‘Maritz’ the most recent collection of songs for DJ Sundae’s Idle Press.
Jonnine’s solo work both dilates and deconstructs the damaged, sensual minimalism of her iconic, two decade collaboration alongside Nigel Yang in HTRK. Skeletal rhythms slink and echo through dimly lit streets framed by fragments of guitar, bass, breath, keys, scrapes, and haze anchored by Jonnine’s narcotic, nocturnal voice. The moods she conjures are lovelorn but oblique, between dream and coma, overlooked scenes glimpsed through fogged glass. Her body of work and artistic vision continue to bloom and beguile, and in the live setting its mysteries assume forms even more untethered and unknown.
– R.Rebeiro [My Disco] with vocalist Karina Utomo and Joshua Wells
– Cold Hands Warm Heart
– POD x Edward Richards
Sponsored by the Maribyrnong City Council
