Spanning the next month, Wednesday nights will be curated by Oscar, featuring an array of different music evenings.
This night invites 2 pianists to the stage to explore the piano as a solo pianist, expressing their latest interests. It is encouraged to share and converse about approaches, ideas, harmony and more.
Peter Bragge learned classical piano for 15 years and obtained a Licentiate in 1991. He was introduced to jazz and improvisation during high school and has spent the last 30 years in a variety of jazz, blues and grooves bands playing gigs across Melbourne. In recent years he has begun recording solo piano improvisations and standards which he has released under his name on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
For the Ragtime Piano club session on April 10 peter will Play a mix of standards, originals and open improvisation. He’ll also set aside time for 2 or 3 requests on the night.
Oscar France is a piano and synth wiz at the forefront of the Northcote jazz scene. Performing regularly with many local jazz bands but very rarely as a solo pianist.
Oscar is taking this opportunity to showcase a selection of ideas & songs, from irish folk to local Jazz standards, free improvisations and his own original pieces.
