Since emerging in 2015, VOIID has been creating a unique space for themselves and their fans in Australia’s DIY underground music scene, having previously released acerbic EPs like Pussy Orientated, Drool and Socioanomaly.
Anji Greenwood leads the band as the vocalist, along with Mina Cannon on drums, Antonia Hickey on bass and vocals, and Kate Mcguire on guitar and vocals.
“In the past few years, I’ve come to have a deeper understanding and appreciation for my mum that I didn’t have before,” says Anji about the writing process behind Little Sibling. “There are so many repetitive patterns in intergenerational trauma, the same as there are in the relationships [I write about]… I was inside my grandmother’s stomach, inside of my mother’s stomach, you know?”
VOIID has created a unique space in Australia’s DIY underground, and Watering Dead Flowers is an honest and authentic testimony to the band’s roots.
In a world where young women are often silenced and dismissed, VOIID’s music is a powerful force for change. The band’s message is one of empowerment and solidarity, and their music is a reminder that it’s okay to be angry, wild and imperfect.
