Watch: NYE music festival Beyond The Valley shows off new home

Beyond The Valley 2022

For the first time in three years, BTV returns to its true form as an all encompassing combination of music, arts and camping at its new home, Barunah Plains.

Following the news that Beyond The Valley will make its highly-anticipated return as a four-day camping festival this New Year’s Eve, taking place from 28th December 2022 – January 1st 2023, the Beyond The Valley organisers have confirmed the news of a brand-new Victorian home.

Usually setting up in the beautiful scenery of Lardner Park over those last couple of days of December and hosting an array of cutting-edge musical lineups and incredible festival experiences, Beyond the Valley will now take place at Barunah Plains, a picturesque oasis in Hesse which boasts a 100,000 square metre natural amphitheatre.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

A rural locality in the Golden Plains Shire, Hesse covers an area of rural farmland along the Hamilton Highway between the towns of Cressy and Inverleigh and is located a 40-minute drive from the Geelong CBD. With sweeping trees, rolling hills, mystic bridges and a winding creek, Barunah Plains will be the perfect home for a new era of Beyond The Valley.

The boutique music festival, which has quickly established itself as a heavyweight in the NYE camping festival scene, will unveil its highly anticipated lineup this Thursday at 12:20PM AEST following a video on socials featuring a Kaytranada song. The festival also teased Bicep back in April.

With a new home in regional Victoria, the BTV team have also confirmed the return of its three iconic stages: The Main Stage, which will feature a larger than ever custom design, unmatched audio and world-class production, The Dance Tent which will feature a 70-metre wide LED wall and renowned Funktion-One soundsystem, and Dr Dan’s, the much-loved multilevel dancefloor colosseum, which will reveal a new reimagined design.

For the first time at BTV, there will be a Podcast Stage with live and interactive recordings of your favourite podcasts. Patrons can also step away from the music and go for a swim in the pools at the Beach Club, or uncover Schmall Klüb, a concealed party with spontaneous sets from your favourite DJs only accessible through a concealed secret entrance, via a portaloo door.

With this also comes the news of the introduction of a daily entry ticket, so punters have the option to stay at accommodation in the local areas (Geelong, Inverleigh, Teesdale etc) or go home each night. For the first time there will also be viewing platforms and Auslan interpreters at the Main Stage, and a designated accessible campsite positioned close to the festival arena.

Other features confirmed by the festival today include interactive art installations, the Poof Doof ‘Pride Patrol’, Speed Dating, Open Mic, Fortune Teller, Doof Stick Making, Yoga, Pilates, Meditation and more.

If you’re after a more luxurious experience, Beyond The Valley’s Lux Camp is the largest glamping offering in the Southern Hemisphere. They’ve increased their offering this year with an Ultra Deluxe option which includes a chauffeur, butler, daily ice delivery, an airconditioned emperor tent with a raised mattress, and more.

Beyond The Valley’s commitment to social impact will increase this year with its move to its new home, committing to social and sustainable partnerships through financial contributions as well as local community initiatives. As part of Beyond The Valley’s ongoing partnership with AIME, $1 for every ticket sold will be donated to the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience to support their programs. BTV will also be using registered charity Humanitix as their ticketing platform for the very first time.

Created by Untitled Group back in 2014, the largest independent music promoter in Australia and the masterminds behind festivals such as Pitch Music & Arts, Grapevine Gathering, Wildlands, For The Love, Ability Fest & more, BTV has featured the likes of RÜFÜS DU SOL, Tyler The Creator, The Kooks, Joey Badass, Bonobo, Jamie XX, Chance The Rapper, SchoolboyQ, Honey Dijon, Kaytranada, Stormzy, Mura Masa & many more. The 2019 camping edition sold out instantly.

This forthcoming edition will be the first camping festival since 2019, with the team last year pivoting to a two-day inner-city event at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, to accommodate for covid restrictions, and unsurprisingly, it was a roaring success.

Beyond The Valley’s meticulous attention to production, arts, decor and theming to compliment their world-class lineups has gained it much popularity and praise. Over the last seven years it has grown to be one of Australia’s largest music & camping events and a New Year’s ritual for many.

In its first year, it is projected that the move to the new site will inject an estimated $30 million into the local region. The festival has made a commitment to donate $50,000 annually to local community groups via a grants program.

The move follows the recent move of Falls Festival from Lorne to Birregurra with organisers describing Pennyroyal Plains as a perfect location for the festival.

Beyond The Valley will take over Barunah Plains, Wentworth Road, Hesse from 28th December 2022 – 1st January 2023. Keep up with updates here
