Dress-ups, DIY fashion, and a kids’ catwalk—no sewing skills needed, just imagination!
The year is 2125. Clothing waste has taken over the world. There’s nothing left to do but cut, rip, pin, stitch, and strut our way out of it. We need YOU to save the planet—one catwalk at a time.
Welcome to Wasteworlds—a large-scale interactive installation built by Fast Fashun artists in collaboration with local legends Snuff Puppets.
Throughout the week, join us for kids’ workshops where little designers and their grown-ups can explore the Wasteworlds sculpture, transform textile trash into fabulous outfits, and hit the runway in style. Expect chaos, creativity, and a whole lot of fun.
On Saturday, we attempt the impossible: a non-stop runway show. For six hours straight, the catwalk is open to anyone and everyone. No sewing skills required—if you can use a safety pin, you’re halfway there. Make a look, take a turn on the runway, or simply come to watch the world transform, one outfit at a time.
Sunday, join us for Wasteworlds: Recovery. The space is free to attend and open as an exhibition. Come lay in the textile rubble. Touch tours are available, or bring along your headphones and device to listen to a poetic audio description.
Kids’ Workshops
Wasteworlds: Kids Workshops are easy, flexible, and built for all kinds of bodies and brains. The space is wheelchair accessible, low-pressure, and welcoming to neurodivergent kids and carers. Children can move at their own pace, opt in and out, and engage however feels right—whether that’s making a costume, playing quietly, or just watching. There’s no right way to take part, and artists are available to offer support where needed.
Recommended for ages 4–12. Grown-ups must stay and are encouraged to join in the fun.
Non-Stop Runway Show
For one day only, we attempt the unthinkable: a six-hour non-stop catwalk where the only rule is that someone must always be serving a look. Dig through the debris. Pin together a post-apocalyptic power suit. Wrap your friend in mesh and call it a statement. Style one of the artists. Or just sip a drink and enjoy the spectacle. No experience necessary. If you can wield a safety pin, you’re halfway to haute couture.
While the Non-stop Runway raves on for 6hrs, the day is broken into smaller, button-sized sessions. Select one of the 2hr windows, and within that session feel free to come and go as you need.
Recovery
The runway has cooled, the safety pins have settled, and the world (probably) hasn’t ended. Join us for a soft landing on the final day of Wasteworlds. This free, four-hour, drop-in session is a chance to slow down, explore the installation at your own pace, and simply be. Touch the textiles. Lounge in the rubble. Gently play among the remains of the week’s fashion chaos.
To support immunocompromised community members, we ask that masks be worn in the space between 11am and 1pm.
