Warataah launch their new single ‘Chitter’ at Bar Open on the 14th of December. They are joined by local legends Trad Ukiyo and Elisha.
Melbourne/Naarm band, Warataah, explore themes of heartbreak and mental health struggles in their writing. Inspired by the likes of Ngaiire and Jordan Rakei, Warataah are funky and quirky, yet soulful and honest.
What began as lockdown writing sessions between Natalie and Simeon turned into a project with a life of its own. With a full band in action, Warataah are five people tugging at ideas in five different directions, taking unique paths to arrive at the same destination. The result is music with pop sensibilities combined with left-of-field musical executions and honest storytelling.
Their latest single, Chitter, describes the social anxiety surrounding a new relationship. The song discusses the nervousness and irritation of someone who may be experiencing the frustration of jealousy. It is one of the first songs Natalie and Simeon wrote together and is the first song recorded as a five-piece bands.
