The Scandinavian Film Festival will bring an esteemed selection of films from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland to Australian screens this month, with a slew of critically acclaimed films set to make their Australian debut.
The festival kicks off this month and will make its way around the country with screenings in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart. Opening the expansive festival is Icelandic dark comedy Under The Tree followed by an opening night afterparty with Nordic flavoured cocktails and entertainment.
The festival will host a broad selection of films sweeping a range of genres including humour, action and mystery. Highlights from this year’s program include:
Göteborg Film Festival’s Best Nordic Film Amateurs,
Danish Academy Awards winner A Horrible Woman,
Breakout SXSW hit comedy Heavy Trip,
Seven-time Icelandic Academy Award (Edda) nominated drama The Swan,
And a curated selection of six short films inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s universe called Bergman Revisited.
The festival kicks off this month, perfect timing to escape the cold and snuggle up in front of the big screen with some popcorn.
