Beginning her career as a classical musician, Katie Noonan earned her stripes at the Queensland Conservatorium. She then used her musical training to start the pop-rock band George with her brother, Tyrone Noonan. George went on to snatch up the 2002 Breakthrough Artist ARIA award and performed their track Breathe in Now at the ceremony.
Next, she pivoted genres again, starting the jazz trio Elixir, which has been a steady force in the jazz scene since its self-titled debut was released in 2003 and is still going strong today.
From releasing jazz and opera duets with her mother, to covering Lennon and McCartney songs and organising interesting collaborations with other musical stars, she’s kept herself busy over the years and continued to grow as an artist.
Most recently, Noonan embarked on the BLUE tour, where she played 4o shows across the country where she performed the entirety of Joni Mitchell’s album Blue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its release.
As a musical shape-shifter and a defiant talent, Noonan is the perfect person to pair up with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Conducted by Carlo Antonioli, the orchestra will accompany Noonan with precision and expertise, making for a dramatic, one-of-a-kind performance that won’t soon be forgotten.
