Video Premiere: Malcura deliver a stunning love letter to The Palais

Since launching their self-titled debut album to a packed crowd on the Federation Square stage earlier this year, Malcura have been hard at work touring regionally in support of the album, and generating word-of-mouth buzz as buskers in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

The song Palais, which features on their most recent album, was inspired by the band’s spontaneous guest appearance on the Palais stage alongside Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.

During the concert, the duo invited some lucky members of the audience, including Malcura guitarists Josh Voce and Steven Angell, onto the stage to experience the performance from the artist’s perspective.

In between songs, Josh nervously approached Rodrigo to ask if they could perform a Malcura song to their audience. After a short while, the Mexican duo handed their guitars over, and Malcura performed one of their original songs, culminating in one of the band’s biggest career highlights thus far.

Unfortunately, Malcura drummer Simon Wood, could not join his fellow bandmates on stage, as he was working at the concert as an usher. In a tongue-in-cheek subplot, the video clip offers an alternative retelling of the Rodrigo y Gabriela show, with drummer Simon assuming the role of a theatre usher that dreams of taking the stage with his bandmates.
