With the grants totalling over $200,000, the 26 chosen venues will get to invest their money into sound management projects inside and outside their premises.
Part of the Victorian Government’s $22.2 million Music Works initiative, the grants will enable the recipients to undertake a variety of soundproofing projects, such as specialist acoustic advice, double-glazing installation, sound absorbing furnishing, air locked doors, and more.
Big players in the scene like Bakehouse Studios, Corner Hotel, and The Night Cat have received up to $25,000, while smaller, regional venues such as God’s Kitchen in Mornington, Suttons House of Music in Ballarat, and Warnambool’s The Loft have not been forgotten. Those venues now have up to $4,780 extra in their pockets.
Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan said the grants compliment “the range of recent state reforms – such as the agent of change principle – which will help to ensure the future of Victoria’s thriving live music community.”
