Victorian Government Sends Five Acts To CMJ

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley announced  $50,000 in grants this morning.

They will support Fraser A Gorman, Pierce Brothers, pop outfit Good Morning, EDM act Sui Zhen and jazz-hop duo Slum Sociable to perform at the festival. It also includes talent managers Melanie Lewis (Ngaiire) and Catherine Haridy (Tigertown).

“As a flagship event for musicians looking to break into the world’s biggest music market, the Andrews Labor Government is proud to support this diverse group of local acts striving to become the next big thing,” Minister Foley said.

This grant round is the first one for Music Works – Quick Response as part of the Government’s acclaimed $12.2 million Music Works initiative.

The Quick Response Grants program support activities such as attendance at trade fairs and conferences, speaking engagements, participation in skills development workshops, and local and international touring opportunities.

Individuals and groups can apply for grants of between $1,000 and $5,000, while groups and organisations are eligible to apply for up to $15,000. Quick Response offer four grant rounds each year. The next closing date is Monday October 5. More details at creative.vic.gov.au/musicworks.
