“We are proud to back in the people who power our music industry, from supporting rising stars to helping established artists take their careers to the next level, at home and around the world.”

What’s more, this year’s iteration introduces two new categories to the program, catering to different stages of artistic development and facilitating access for underrepresented groups within the industry.

Stream 1: Uncovering Talent is tailored to support early career artists and individuals from marginalized backgrounds, providing them with the resources and support needed to kickstart their musical journey.

Meanwhile, Stream 2: Evolve and Export aims to facilitate the expansion of Victorian artists into new markets, offering funding for projects geared towards international exposure.

Both streams feature dedicated avenues for First Peoples and Deaf and Disabled applicants, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility are core tenets of the program.

Since its inception in 2015, the Music Works program has been instrumental in supporting over 800 music projects, with nearly $12 million invested to date.

Past beneficiaries of the Music Works program include acclaimed acts such as The Teskey Brothers, Amyl and the Sniffers, RVG and Julia Jacklin, who have utilized the grants to showcase their music on both local and international stages.

Moreover, the program has provided vital support to First Peoples artists like Bumpy, DJ Kidd Benny and Kutcha Edwards, enabling them to realise their artistic visions and reach wider audiences.
