Melbourne International Games Week is celebrating Australian game development with a Steam event featuring 219 Victorian titles.
The digital showcase brings together everything from cosy puzzle adventures to high-octane racers, all made right here in Victoria. Melbourne International Games Week has partnered with Steam to spotlight the state’s thriving game development scene, proving that world-class interactive entertainment doesn’t always need to come from overseas studios.
Running throughout the festival period, the Steam celebration offers players a chance to discover homegrown talent while snagging some solid deals. The lineup spans every genre imaginable, whether you’re into crafting adventures, strategic warfare, or quirky indie experiments that defy easy categorisation.

Must-try games
The Plucky Squire – One of the bigger titles in the collection, this action-adventure game lets storybook characters jump between 2D and 3D worlds. Created by All Possible Futures (though the Wikipedia entry says British studio, the game features Victorian developers), it’s currently offering a 50% discount during the event.
Lighthaze World – A cosy puzzle game by Radiobush where the main character suffers a panic attack while shopping and reimagines the mall as Tasmania. Released 9 September 2025.
Trash – A co-op adventure crafting game from Bin Chicken Studios where players restore balance to a trashy world. Features a demo and is participating in broadcasts, releasing March 2026.
Final Profit: A Shop RPG – A story-driven management shop-sim by Brent Arnold where players make investments and harsh choices while trying to take down the corrupt Bureau of Business. Already released (6 March 2023) with both a demo and discount available.
Oil Town – Another Brent Arnold project, this rags-to-riches life-sim has players scooping and hauling oil to save up for land while discovering hidden Witch Powers. Demo available, release TBA.
Screencheat – Another established title now heavily discounted at 80% off! Screencheat is a first-person shooter video game developed by Samurai Punk and published by Surprise Attack, released to rave reviews (a 9/10 Steam rating!) back in 2014.
219 Victorian titles on offer
The showcase demonstrates the breadth of Victoria’s game development ecosystem, from intimate narrative experiences to sprawling multiplayer adventures. Players can browse by genre, visual style, price point or release status to find their next favourite game.
The event serves multiple purposes beyond simply promoting games. It highlights career development opportunities in Victoria’s game industry, connects local studios with international partners, and demonstrates the non-commercial value of games as both creative expression and tools for social change.
With titles ranging from fishing simulators to dystopian adventures, supernatural mysteries to competitive puzzle games, the collection reflects the diverse interests and technical capabilities of Victorian developers. Some games launch during the festival period, while others use the platform to build wishlists ahead of future releases.
Melbourne International Games Week is the Asia Pacific’s largest digital games celebration, bringing together conferences, public events and industry activities. The Steam festival represents just one component of the broader program connecting game creators, enthusiasts and the general public.
