Vardos presents the intriguing true story of a violinist turned spy catcher in 1970’s Romania through violin, piano accordion and double bass, exploring echoes of the CeauČ™escu regime that can be felt at every turn. Driven by Alana’s wild violin, chased by accordion and double bass, Vardos play folk and Romany music learnt from Roma musicians during their travels in Eastern Europe. Based in Melbourne, the band has played in every state of Australia, toured to Hungary, France, Berlin, Switzerland, Amsterdam, New Caledonia, New Zealand, London and Scotland, released 7 albums and appeared in film and television.
