The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert has locked in three more names for 20 September.

Vanessa Amorosi, Rob Farnham and Dannielle Gaha have joined The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert.

Vanessa Amorosi, Rob Farnham and Dannielle Gaha are the newest additions to The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert, joining a Rod Laver Arena bill that already boasts 120 artists, a 38-piece orchestra, a choir and the John Farnham Band. The one-night-only celebration lands as a Melbourne exclusive.

Amorosi is flying back from Los Angeles especially for the occasion, bringing the powerhouse voice behind Absolutely Everybody and Shine to a catalogue she grew up idolising. Rob Farnham, the singer’s son and a musician and actor in his own right, adds a family thread to proceedings. Dannielle Gaha, meanwhile, reconnects with material she performed for years as one of Farnham’s longtime backing vocalists, among it their 1989 chart duet Communication, a partnership that stretches back decades.

Musical director Chong Lim is steering the whole production, conducting the 38-piece orchestra and the John Farnham Band across the setlist. They sit alongside a stacked lineup featuring Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, Kate Ceberano, Diesel, Hans, Human Nature, Jack Jones, Richard Marx, Jessica Mauboy, Ruby Rodgers, Jon Stevens, Mitch Tambo, Keith Urban, Mark Vincent and Ross Wilson, with Celine Dion beaming in from Paris and Hugh Jackman from Los Angeles via satellite. Organisers say every performer was personally invited by Farnham.

Rod Laver Arena makes a fitting home for the send-off, given Farnham set a venue record there with 94 shows to more than one million punters. The evening doubles as a fundraiser for Head and Neck Cancer Australia, working through favourites such as You’re the Voice, Burn for You, Age of Reason, A Touch of Paradise, Two Strong Hearts, Pressure Down and Chain Reaction. Farnham himself won’t be taking the stage; the concert is a tribute assembled entirely around his songbook.
