Ezra Koenig would like you all to get off his back about how there hasn’t been a new Vampire Weekend album in at least five years. In an attempt to satisfy fans’ bloodthirst, Koenig has taken to Instagram to share there will be a new single entering the world next week.
“Anyway, we’re gonna start releasing music next week. After all that waiting, you should have the general schedule,” Koenig said on Instagram.
“There will be three 2-song drops every month until the record is out.”
Koenig fell short of saying when the record release date would actually be, but he doesn’t feel bad for making fans wait as long as they have for new music.
“Personally, I think it’s a dignified pace befitting a band that’s already placed three albums in stores but everyone has their own sense of time,” Koenig said.
In his Instagram post, Koenig has also shared some details about the upcoming record. The current album name is four words long, with the initials ‘FOTB’. FOTB will contain a whopping 18 tracks, with a tracklist that supposedly does not contain any filler songs. To Koenig, every track counts.
“It’s a lot of songs but they all belong there. (If you disagree, you can always say it was 6 songs too long & make a lil 12-song playlist version of it.),” he said.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping busy figuring out what FOTB could possibly stand for. Failings Of The Brave? Free Our Tired Brethren? Fall Out (The) Boy?
Check out the spiel for yourselves:
