Best experienced with a set of headphones, this six-track EP continues right where their highly acclaimed 2010 release Where Did the Night Fall left off. Money and Run opens the EP with an almost indigenous Australian sound that gradually builds with the help of thumping-rolling drums, fuzzy guitar and Nick Cave providing gritty sermon- like vocals like only he can. This track is like running into a dense aural forest, with a contagious rolling beat and killer vocals leading the way. The Dog is Black, the other stand-out, is a dark, heavy brooding elephant of a track that is pulled along by Leila Moss’ hauntingly searing vocals. The depth and layers of production on show here are outstanding and another fine example of UNKLE at their best. The rest of the EP doesn’t quite reach the same dizzying heights, but still most certainly holds its own which results in another fine release from UNKLE.
