Hailing from the vibrant UK independent music scene of the mid-1980s, The Primitives carved their niche with a sound that effortlessly melded the shimmering guitar charm of The Byrds, the raw energy of The Ramones, and the infectious melodies of 60’s girl groups into bite-sized pop gems, all encapsulated within the concise timeframe of two-and-a-half-minute wonders.

Having dominated the indie singles chart and achieved critical acclaim with their debut album, Lovely, The Primitives soared to become one of the UK’s most revered alternative rock acts. The international success of their single “Crash” catapulted them into the mainstream, leading to chart-topping hits, including two more studio albums, Pure and Galore, and extensive tours across Europe and the US before temporarily calling it a day in 1992.

A pivotal moment came in 2009 when the band reunited to pay tribute to their original bass player, Steve Dullaghan, who had tragically passed away. Buoyed by the success of this reunion, The Primitives embarked on tours across the UK, the US, and mainland Europe, marking their return to the stage after a 17-year hiatus.

In subsequent years, The Primitives continued to enchant fans with the release of the Never Kill A Secret EP, the covers album Echoes and Rhymes, and the critically acclaimed album Spin-O-Rama in 2014. The band remained in the creative forefront with the 2017 release of the New Thrills EP and the 2022 limited edition single “Don’t Know Where To Start,” followed by the digital-only single “I Won’t Care” in May 2023.

Since reformation, The Primitives have crisscrossed the UK, Europe, the US, and Japan, igniting stages with their timeless indie pop tunes. The current lineup boasts the original trio of Tracy Tracy (vocals), Paul Court (guitar/vocals), and Tig Williams (drums).

Tickets go on sale at 9 AM AEDT on Thursday, November 23, available via Troubadour Presents.
