Two people have died at Rabbits Eat Lettuce festival

The festival expressed their condolences in a statement.

A 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were found dead inside a tent at Elbow Valley music festival Rabbits Eat Lettuce yesterday morning, as confirmed by the festival in a statement.

Police are treating the deaths as suspected drug overdoses, though the festival organisers ask that the public await toxicology results before speculating. Officials have stated the deaths do not appear to be suspicious and ruled out rumours that the deceased were killed by a fallen tree.

The four-day music festival, which is described as a place for “freedom, love and dance music”, had a number of safeguards in place to ensure the safety of patrons including emergency care and drug screening.

“Rabbit Eat Lettuce place the wellbeing and safety of our patrons as the number one priority and we have highly trained first aid, professional paramedics working 24 hours throughout the festival & an on call doctor onsite,” said the festival organisers in a statement. “In addition QLD Police & QLD Ambulance are on duty in a user pay capacity during the festival. We work together with authorities to ensure that the environment we provide is as safe as possible.”
