After a bumpy road to the 2015 event, Tropfest’s 2016 running proved to be one of its most successful yet with more than 90,000 punters converging on Sydney’s Centennial Park to witness some of the world’s most talented short-filmmaking talent.

To celebrate the silver jubilee, Tropfest have announced a few changes to ensure the event’s longevity. It will be switching to a not-for-profit business model, focusing on attracting more women filmmakers, the ‘main event’ will move from Sunday to Saturday and a board which will help oversee the longevity of the organisation will be introduced.

Tropfest have also announced the much anticipated ‘Tropfest signature item’ for its 25th running – pineapple. The popular spiky fruit must be included in all 2017 entries by all would-be finalists.
