triple j announces new 24/7 Hottest 100 station

Words by Gabrielle Duykers

A time capsule of favourite tracks from new and old music lovers will hit airwaves later this month, as the national broadcaster launches its brand new station – triple J Hottest.

The station will exclusively feature songs that listeners have selected for past triple J Hottest 100 countdowns, which stretches back more than 30 years.

The popular annual event sees listeners across the country cast votes for their top picks from the previous year, with the 2022 countdown bringing in more than 2.4 million submissions.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Triple j Hottest will be available to listen to 24 hours a day online through the triple j and ABC Listen apps.

The constant stream will include tracks from every annual Hottest 100 countdown, as well as the Hottest 100 of All-Time countdowns, Hottest 100 of the Decade (2000-2010), and the Hottest 100 of Like A Version.

The station will also play archival interviews with previously ranking artists, along with an array of other historic Hottest 100 content.

Yesterday was the final day listeners could place their votes for the upcoming Hottest 100 of Like a Version, which will kick off on triple j and Double J this Saturday, July 15, at 12pm AEST. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Friday morning segment, which has now recorded more than 800 creative Like A Version covers by a myriad of Australian and international artists.

The Triple J Hottest station will launch at 9.30am AEST Monday, July 17.
