Tool return to Australia for first headline shows in six years

Words by staff writer

TOOL bring their mind-bending live show back to Australian shores.

Tool are heading back to Australia for their first headline shows down under in ages.

The Grammy-winning heavy rock outfit will touch down for two massive indoor arena performances this summer, hitting Adelaide Entertainment Centre on 28 November and RAC Arena in Perth on 2 December. After their Auckland shows sold like hotcakes, Australian fans better move fast if they want to witness one of rock’s most intense live experiences.

Since forming back in 1990, Tool have carved out a reputation as one of the heaviest, most technically adventurous bands in modern rock. The quartet of Danny Carey on drums, Justin Chancellor on bass, Adam Jones on guitar and Maynard James Keenan on vocals have spent over three decades pushing the boundaries of what heavy music can be. Their catalogue spans five studio albums, from 1993’s Undertow through to 2019’s Fear Inoculum, each one packed with the complex, hypnotic compositions that have turned them into genuine rock royalty.

These shows promise the full Tool experience: boundary-pushing visuals, unmatched production values and the kind of musicianship that’s made them a must-see live act. Byron Bay rock band Headsend will open both shows, fresh off dropping their debut single Stove.

Frontier Members presale kicks off Friday 3 October at 1pm local time, with general tickets going on sale Tuesday 7 October at 1pm local time through Ticketek.
