Tiny Doctors: Happy Lab

Gasworks Arts Park

This event is part of the 2025 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

A musical, interactive theatre lab where kids mix potions and learn the magic of emotions!

Tiny Doctors: Happy Labs is a joyful, hands-on theatre experience for children aged three to seven, where feelings are explored, friendships are celebrated, and happiness is brewed—literally!

This two-part program begins with a live musical performance inside a transformed theatre space: the Tiny Doctors Research Centre. Upon arrival, each child receives their very own lab coat and goggles, instantly becoming Tiny Doctors, ready to investigate what makes us feel good inside.

Inside the lab, the Tiny Doctors meet Doctor Smiley and her energetic musical sidekick. They are guided through an interactive performance of laughter and stories. Using imaginative play, the Tiny Doctors discover how to talk about their feelings, support their friends, and find joy in the everyday.

Together, the team helps Dr Smiley mix her famous “Sarahtonin Potion”—a magical mood-boosting formula made with ingredients like “sunshine in the park,” “hugs from Mum,” and “ice cream after school.” With each joyful addition, children sing, dance, and interact with props in a high-energy, heartwarming environment.

But the adventure doesn’t end there!

In Part Two, the Tiny Doctors move into the Wonderful Workshop, a creative craft activity where they make their own Sarahtonin Potions. Using drawings, words, and pictures, they reflect on what brings them joy – and they even get to take their potions home!

Tiny Doctors: Happy Labs is designed to promote emotional wellbeing, self-expression, and social connection in a way that’s fun, memorable, and accessible. Perfect for families, schools, and little scientists with big hearts.
