Australian Gothic artist Tia Tamora launches new single ‘The Lodge’ with special guests
The Lodge is a song about feeling trapped, moving on and release.
And it’s the latest slice of music from 22 yr old Australian Gothic artist Tia Tamora.
The Lodge was written after a day exploring the abandoned property of a former cult.
As Tia moved from room to room with her friends, the feeling of the space connected with where she felt internally at that time…not a good place.
But through this experience of walking through the haunted relics, religious books and abandoned furnishings of a place where people weren’t truly free, Tia made a defining choice in her life. She decided to move on and forget about an unequal relationship before she forgot about who she, herself was.And from this The Lodge was born.
Weaving old audio samples of the actual children of this particular cult into the recording, The Lodge is another slice of cinematic Australian Gothic from Tia Tamora. Continuing her exploration of the dark edge of chamber pop and dark folk, Tia captures her own experiences through the lens of Australia’s landscape, isolation, complex history and folk lore.
“The Lodge was inspired by an abandoned dwelling out in the hills. Me and a few friends explored it’s dark, deserted rooms and I felt many emotions, heavily within its walls. The Lodge is illustrating how I felt in those moments and who I was getting over at the time. Toward the end of the song, I refer to The Lodge as something I aspire to be like one day – “sitting very still” and “watching those who try to pass, knowing you never will.”’ Tia Tamora
Born and raised on Victoria’s Peninsula, alongside her cousin, indie singer songwriter Tulliah, Tia spent her youth furiously writing what would develop into her grim songbook of the Australian psyche. Now armed with her pen and raw vision, The Lodge is a perfect example of the singer’s unique powers.
