Christmas Extravaganza brings cult classics and festive films to Northcote this December.
Nowhere Film Club x April May’s Christmas Extravaganza is hitting Northcote on 18 December, mixing surprise screenings, live music and a communal potluck.
The festive event is all about local people coming together and enjoying a night surrounded by community, plus it serves as a fundraiser for the Northcote Library Portal.
The library portal is an independant and volunteer-run library, arts centre and meeting place with a collection of over 10,000 borrowable books.
A surprise screening anchors the night, with organisers keeping the title under wraps.

Live music runs alongside the film, with performances from April May, Clara Darcy, Willie Scott, Billie Burrows and more. Sets range from indie takes on Christmas songs to original material, drifting in and out while people eat, chat and move around the Northcote space.
Food and drink are a big part of the night. The potluck starts at 6:30pm, encouraging attendees to bring a dish if they can. Hot chocolate, snacks and other treats will be floating around to keep things warm. Profits from the night go towards supporting the Northcote Library Portal.
The mix of film, music and food makes it less a polished show and more a communal hang in Northcote, a snapshot of what Melbourne’s underground film scene looks like when it leans into the fun and inclusivity of it all.
