Written and performed by Elizabeth, This Is Joni is an exploration paying homage to the legendary Mitchell’s thought-provoking artistry. With songs spanning a vast range of style, genre and theme, Mitchell defined a generation through her powerful music, penning such socially and politically significant hits as Help Me, Big Yellow Taxi, Blue and Free Man In Paris.
Elizabeth will perform a collection of songs spanning Mitchell’s 40-odd year career with her 6-piece band, featuring some of Melbourne’s finest musicians and special guest vocalists.The show will also explore Mitchell’s work as an artist and painter, observing a range of her work dating from the early 1950s to the present day.
“I was introduced to Joni’s music when I was 12 years old by my father, and that’s when I decided I wanted to become a singer myself,” Elizabeth says. “She is without question my greatest musical inspiration. Writing and performing this show will be an incredible highlight in my career.”
