A Warm French Escape promises a cosy winter afternoon of food, music and surprise activations.

The French Hub Melbourne – opening event

  • When: Saturday 21 June, 12pm-5pm
  • Where: Alliance Française French Hub, 140 Bourke Street, Melbourne

Whether you’re a hardcore Francophile or just in it for the cheese, this is one of the most charming ways to spend a winter’s afternoon in Melbourne.

And if you’ve ever toyed with the idea of learning French, this is your chance.

The event includes free 30-minute French taster sessions designed for complete beginners, no experience or prep required.

You’ll learn a few handy phrases and get a glimpse of why Alliance Française is considered a world leader in French education, right here in Melbourne.

The French Hub itself is a transformation project years in the making.

Housed in the historic Hoyts cinema building (opened in 1966, heritage-listed in 2014), the new space blends heritage architecture with modern learning facilities.

The former mezzanine space within this historic structure has been reimagined as a contemporary educational and cultural hub, blending heritage with innovation.

Inside, you’ll find French classrooms, cultural programming, and a growing community of learners and creatives.

Level 1 now houses a dedicated language school, with administrative offices and more classrooms on Level 4; all part of a vision to make French culture more accessible in the heart of Melbourne.
