‘Think of it as a breather’: Splendour in the Grass won’t be returning in 2025

Splendour in the Grass has announced it won't be returning in 2025, with organisers stating the festival "needs a little more time to recharge".

The formerly annual four-day music festival, usually held in North Bryon Parklands, will not go ahead this July, following the cancellation of its 2024 edition. It has, however, insisted that it will return eventually, calling the decision “a breather”.

Splendour In The Grass’ 2024 cancellation came just two weeks after the lineup announcement, headed by Australian pop megastar Kylie Minogue in an exclusive festival appearance. Minogue was supposed to headline Splendour’s 2024 festival in an exclusive Australian appearance, with mumble-rap pioneer Future and Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire as the two leading international headliners.

“Hey gang, sorry it’s been so quiet, but we had a little holiday…finally. The rest of the festival team have still been busy cooking up some awesome new things for music lovers in Australia, but Splendour needs a little more time to recharge and we won’t be back this year,” Splendour announced on Instagram.

“Think of it as a breather so we can come back even bigger and better when the time is right. Lots of other huge events on the horizon so keep an ear to the ground in the coming months – we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!”

The sad news that Splendour won’t be returning in 2025 follows the similar cancellations of fellow Australian festival titans Falls Festival and Groovin’ The Moo.
