The Tote

It’s The Tote’s 40th anniversary and they’re not going to let this milestone pass by unnoticed.

With a full year of celebrations planned, they’ve just announced their second series of legendary live shows in celebration for their 40th anniversary.

Hot off the back of the recent Convolution show, that saw The Kylie Auldist Band, That Gold Street Sound, Steppers taking to the stage at the historic Abbotsford Convent. Their new announcement of shows includes some absolutely unmissable events – including Seedy Jeezus, Kasumen Records Showcase, X (Aspirations), an Ian Rilen tribute gig and These Immortal Souls’ first show since 1998.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

“This is the second batch of amazing shows we are producing to celebrate the Tote’s 40-year Anniversary that feature the legends and stalwarts of Australia’s live music scene,” said Jon Perring, the Tote’s co-owner and publican.

“It is our absolute pleasure to be able to focus on bands and musicians that have substantially contributed to not only Melbourne’s music scene but also have contributed a lasting legacy to Australian Culture. Also, stay tuned … as there are more amazing shows on the way.”

It’s all happening at The Tote:

  • Kasumen Records showcase– Aug 27th: The Naarm based record label shows off some of their favourites in a day of riffs, glorious noise and improvisation. The Show features the Paul Kidney Experience, Brown Spirits, Heavy Amber, Baby 8, New Estate and more …

  • Ian Rilen tribute gig – October 1st: A tribute show to the Australian rock n’ roll icon Ian Rilen. Friends and collaborators will come together to play his songs from Rose Tattoo, to X, and to his solo work with the Love Addicts.
  • These Immortal Souls (first show since 1998) – 12th Nov: The heavily influential post-punk band fronted by the late great Rowland S. Howard. The songs will be performed by all the remaining band members and an array of guest singers to celebrate the upcoming reissue of their back catalogue on Mute Records.
