There’s a winter festival setting Frankston ablaze this weekend

Fire Night Frankston

Bursting with colour, this interactive and enigmatic family festival is set to transform Frankston's Long Island into a fiery Winter Solstice celebration.

Unlike anything that Frankston as ever seen, this free, family friendly event will take place over two fire-filled days – on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26. At the culmination of each night, a jaw-dropping giant wooden sculpture by artist Christian Patton will be set ablaze.

Bustling with atmosphere and exceptional entertainment, FIRE NIGHT FRANKSTON will be a festival that will foster a strong sense of warmth and community. A celebration of re-birth and renewal, the Winter Solstice is celebrated around the world with festivals of fire and light. The longest night of the year, it marks the beginning of lengthening days and shortening nights.

The highlight of FIRE NIGHT FRANKSTON is the burning of Melbourne-based artist Christian Patton’s giant wooden sculpture. With roving performers, kids’ activities, fire breathers and drummers, the festival is one of warmth, celebration and theatricality.

Indulge in wintery comfort foods like 18-hour beef brisket, slow-cooked chicken, beef short ribs and pulled pork, all grilled over a hot charcoal BBQ. With over 15 food trucks offering a range of tasty snacks and meals, they’re also offering local beers, mulled wine, wood fire pizza and hot chocolate. The perfect place to meet with your friends and grab a bite to eat, Fire Night’s Winter Solstice festival is the perfect place to spend your evening this weekend.
