There’s a riverside rave going down for Melbourne Music Week

Melbourne Music Week

One of the Melbourne Music Week highlights for dance and techno fans will undoubtedly be the Family Friends rave at Boatbuilders Yard.

This summer two of Naarm’s most trusted party purveyors – WAT Artists & Crown Ruler team up with Melbourne Music Week to launch Family Friends.

They say they’re coming together like Voltron: a natural pairing of two ardent music collectives ready to fill the city with all the right frequencies. After another difficult year gone, they’re asking us all to find inspiration in our spirited community – flaunting the power of music and human connection.

Featuring: Wax’o Paradiso + Lauren Hansom (SYD) + Surprise Chef (live) + dj pgz + Claddy + Hi-Care + Izabel + Sophie McAlister +  Palazzo

It’s all kicking off Sunday December 5, with an all-day open air bash as they take-over Boatbuilders Yard, South Wharf. Government approved, the Family Friends event is running at full capacity and ready to get down, smack bang on the Yarra with city-scape surrounds, shake your body from day into night as some of Australia’s finest come together for a heavyweight dance affair.

The party will feature cult krautback discoteque Waxo Paradiso, coming with their ever mixed bag of bent melters. Complimenting the pairing, globetrotting selector Lauren Hansom returns from over state lines with her oddball dance-fused eclecticism.

After an enormous year, world conquering cinematic funk outfit, Surprise Chef will make their first post-lockdown performance leading into Sun Cycle. While DJ pgz and Claddy round out the mainstage with a dynamic blend of seductive club grooves.

It’s the first in what they aim to be an ongoing event series over the summer.
