There’s a punk-techno rave happening in a Brunswick warehouse next month

Words by staff writer

Somebody’s let the punks stay up late again. Head On: Punk Rave 2 hits Brunswick’s Rubix Warehouse on 7 November.

Kanvas Presents ran the first Head On at the same Phoenix Street warehouse in November 2025, with Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice and CLAMM on the bill and Tongue Dissolver starting their set at 2am. Head On: Punk Rave 2 keeps the formula. It runs until 4am, and the Head On DJs are back too.

Npcede formed in late 2022 when brothers Victor and Roy Moore teamed up with childhood friend Zac Hellyer. None of the three had been in a band before, and they put out debut single Swallow before playing a show.

Chapter Music signed them as its final new act and released their self-titled EP in 2025. Its five tracks grind 80s industrial against noise, rap and pop, and Guy Louis Faletolu, who has also worked with Amyl and the Sniffers, mixed and mastered it. They’ve already shared stages with CLAMM and Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice, who both played the first Head On.

The Maggie Pills bring the guitars. Argentinian vocalist Delfi Sorondo and Venezuelan drummer Mario Perez started the band in late 2019, not long after moving to Melbourne, and their 2023 debut album Hope Is a Risk stacked Latin percussion and synths on top of fuzzed-out punk. Joe Carra, whose mastering credits include King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Courtney Barnett, mastered it.

Lunar Dirt are making the trip from Woolloongabba in Brisbane with live drums, analogue synths and an ongoing project: a new soundtrack to a sci-fi cult classic, built in instalments. Chapter One, the first, rescored six of the film’s scenes, and the band took the project to the UK in 2025 for a show at Brighton’s Hope & Ruin. Their track Teeth pushes harder, into industrial acid house.

Plastic Orchestra round out the bill. Bassist Grace Snow leads the Naarm/Melbourne collective, which pools everyone’s gear and turns it into upbeat alt songs. Doors open at 10pm.
